A Piece of Living Mexican Cacao Tradition

Each of our 34cm molinillos is individually handcrafted by Maestro Juan Alonso Rodríguez, a fifth-generation Mexican artisan whose family has dedicated decades to preserving the traditional craft of making molinillos.

Every piece is carefully shaped on a wood lathe, finished and decorated by hand. Natural variations in the wood, carving and finish make each molinillo completely unique.

The molinillo is one of Mexico’s most recognisable traditional cacao tools. For generations, molinillos have traditionally been rolled between the palms to aerate cacao and hot chocolate, creating the characteristic rich layer of foam associated with Mexican cacao preparation.

An Impressive 34cm Statement Piece

At approximately 50cm long, this is our larger traditional molinillo and beautifully showcases the intricacy of the artisan’s work.

Its size makes it a striking addition to a cacao space, ceremonial setting, kitchen display or collection and offers a tangible connection to the traditions and craftsmanship surrounding Mexican cacao.

Whether displayed alongside your cacao collection or used as a centrepiece within a ceremonial space, each molinillo carries the individual character of the artisan who made it.

Handmade in Mexico

Every molinillo is individually turned and finished by hand using traditional woodworking techniques.

Small differences in grain, colour, carving, dimensions and decorative patterns are a natural part of the handmade process and make every piece a genuine example of Mexican craftsmanship.

The Spirit of the Molinillo

The molinillo is more than a whisk—it is a symbol of tradition, presence and connection. Used in Mexico for centuries, it transforms cacao through gentle rhythm, creating the rich foam long associated with care, abundance and ceremony. Each turn is an invitation to slow down, honour an ancient tradition, and prepare cacao with intention.
